How to Generate More E-Commerce Sales Using Instagram

As an e-commerce store owner you want more sales, right?

Well, there isn’t a more lucrative social media platform than Instagram these days. With so many active users and their targeting options, you are leaving money on the table if you are not using it as one of your main promotional outlets for your e-commerce website.

Here are some simple yet effective ways to use Instagram that will result in more exposure and sales.

Use Professional Quality Images

Look at some of the top e-com brands on Instagram and you will see that their feed looks like it was professionally done. Well, that is because it was. They use studio quality images and often maintain brand colors or a specific theme throughout their feed.

You don’t have to break the bank and hire a professional photographer, but you do need to spend time creating great images rather than just snapping and uploading. You can take great quality images with an iPhone and then use free editing apps to make them pop.

Write Compelling Captions

Aside from the image that does the initial attracting, the caption is what does the selling. You have to be creative. There are dozens (or more) sites like yours. Why should they shop on your website?

Use humor. Let personality shine. This is what helps to create an e-commerce brand that is memorable and not one that just looks like a generic drop shipping website. You have to build trust, so put an effort in and make your captions compelling.

Post Images and Stories

If you are not posting images and stories you are missing a lot of impressions. Instagram’s feed continues to go through changes and not everyone of your followers is going to see your content. They did this with Facebook before. What? They want you to run paid ads of course.

Posting a story as well will help you get more exposure. There are going to be some followers that don’t see the image post but will see your story. If you are strapped for time you can repurpose the same content for both your feed and story.

Use Influencers

If your budget allows, find some niche relevant influencers and pay them (cash or free product) to promote your offer to their audience. They key is to make it look and appear as natural as possible.

The easiest way to accomplish this is to let the influencer have control over how they introduce you and your product to their followers. They know their audience better than you do, so giving them creative control is going to benefit you more than having them post something that looks like a blatant ad.
